Making your worksheet…

Sheet code: –

Type the code printed on a sheet to get the same sheet back, with its answers.

How it works

  1. Type a number in the converter to see how it is spelled.
  2. For a worksheet, choose the range and the task: digits to words, words to digits, or mixed.
  3. Choose US style (one hundred twenty) or UK style (one hundred and twenty), then print.

Hyphens and “and”

Numbers from 21 to 99 take a hyphen: twenty-one, forty-five, ninety-nine. In American English the hundreds run straight on (three hundred forty-two); in British English an “and” comes before the tens (three hundred and forty-two).

Big numbers

Big numbers are read in groups of three digits: 4,302,015 is four million three hundred two thousand fifteen. Saying each group as if it stood alone, then adding million or thousand, is the easiest way to write them.
