Making your worksheet…

Sheet code: –

Type the code printed on a sheet to get the same sheet back, with its answers.

How it works

  1. Choose the size of the numbers in the settings: □□□ ÷ □ means a three-digit number divided by a one-digit number.
  2. Under More options choose remainders (with, without or mixed) and how many problems.
  3. Print the sheet. The answer key shows each product to subtract and each digit brought down.

Long division, step by step

Divide, multiply, subtract, bring down, and repeat. The answer key writes out each step under the dividend, so children can find exactly where they went wrong.

Other countries, other layouts

Long division is not written the same way everywhere. The Italian, Spanish, French and Portuguese versions of this page put the divisor on the right of a bracket, and the German version writes 847 : 7 = on one line, as children there learn it.

Questions and answers

Can the long division have a remainder?

Yes. Choose Mixed, Without or With under Remainders. The remainder appears after the quotient, as in 19 R 1.

How hard are the problems?

From two-digit numbers divided by one digit to four-digit numbers divided by two digits.
