How it works
- Choose the paper: ¼ inch, 5 mm, 4 mm or 1 cm squares, millimeter, dot grid, lined or Seyès.
- Choose the line color and whether you want a margin line.
- Press Print. Turn off “Fit to page” in the print dialog so the squares keep their exact size.
Exact sizes
The grids are drawn in millimeters, so a ¼ inch square prints at 6.35 mm and a 5 mm square at 5 mm, as long as the printer prints at 100% (“Actual size”).
Seyès paper
Seyès ruling is the paper French children write on: 8 mm squares with three fine lines inside each one, and a margin on the left.
Questions and answers
Why are my squares slightly smaller?
The print dialog is probably set to “Fit to page” or “Shrink”. Choose “Actual size” or 100%.
Which paper is best for math?
For column math, 5 mm or ¼ inch squares; for young children, 1 cm squares.
